What Makes Your Pores Look Bigger?

What Makes Your Pores Look Bigger?
When it comes to skincare, one thing many women strive to do is make their pores look smaller. Have you ever wondered exactly what causes those large pores? Here are four things that can make your pores look bigger… What Makes Pores Look Bigger?

1. Blackheads

Blackheads are caused when trapped oil oxidizes and causes black spots on the skin’s surface. You’re likely to find them on your chin and nose and they can sometimes be tough to get rid of. When you have a bunch of blackheads clustered in one place, it can make your pores appear larger. You may notice that some blackheads are bigger than others, as they can actually increase pore size by expanding the area of your pores. In order to prevent blackheads, you want to make sure you’re properly cleansing your skin to keep oil from getting trapped inside your pores.

2. Genetics

If you just can’t seem to shrink your pores no matter what you do, it could be related to your genetics. People with larger pores on their faces often have family members who also have large pores. Start by asking your parents or other family members how their skin was when they were your age. Unfortunately, if you’re dealing with genetic skin issues, there isn’t much you can do except take extremely good care of your skin (which starts with a proper skin care regimen).

3. Sun Damage

Wear SPF Surely you don’t need another reason to protect your skin from the sun, do you? Here it is anyway: Sun damage can cause your pores to appear larger. When the sun’s harmful rays damage your skin, it can thicken your skin, which leads to bigger pores. Make sure that whenever you head out into the sunshine, you protect your skin by wearing SPF to keep your pores looking small. You should also wear SPF even on cloudy days to shield your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays the sun produces.

4. Age

It’s no secret that age does a lot of things to our skin, but did you know it could also cause your pores to appear larger? As we age, our skin loses elasticity, which results in sagginess. Take care of your skin by using anti-aging products that are designed to promote elastin and collagen. When you start taking care of your skin at an early age, you’re much more likely to see youthful-looking skin as you get older.
